I know I’m getting to this a little late (the fifth day of New York Fashion Week is today),but I want to share some of my favorite fashion week collections of this season.
With Carolina Herrera, The Row, Tommy Hilfiger, 3.1 Philip Lim, Donna Karan, Thom Browne, Zero + Maria Cornejo, Zac Posen, and Rag & Bone showing today alone, this is one of New York’s best.
I really loved the Tome collection with the stark contrast between its moto-inspired jackets (especially in yellow), flowing dresses, bulky overcoats, and the army green sleeveless coat.
Ohne Titel’s bright knitwear inspired me more with their colors than their cuts and design. I found one light brown, jumpsuity article very similar to that of Marc Jacobs’.
The silk, fur, snakeskin, and wool of Jason Wu’s 2015 Fall RTW Collection worked very well together. Even the stiffness of the snakeskin peplum top belonged to the same muse as the evening dresses with slits and beautiful fur wraps. By far, one of my favorite collections of fashion week.
Suno’s interesting pattern embellishments that garnished the clothes on the runway the third day of fashion week are what made me fall for the collection. I definitely enjoyed the striped ensembles more than the large florals.
Derek Lam showed some versatile separates that I would pair with pieces from different collections instead of the articles that were shown with much of the garmentry; they needed a bit more color.
I loved the magentas, cobalts, and vermillions that DKNY sent down to fashion week, although the silhouettes were quite similar to those of Tome with large shouldered-coats and long dresses.
Oh, the exotic details of Thakoon’s collection. The textiles, vibrant hues, and sparkliness of the last dress on the runway were truly spectacular and breathtaking.
The Edun collection was minimalistic in black and white with a few hints of crimson, bright blue, and overlapping pinstripes. There were updates on the classic Mondrian minidress and fringe on one side of many dresses.
Last but not least at all, the Opening Ceremony collection. There were many high collars, muted tones, and wide belts. Small florals, a tiger stripe, and some colorful square patterns were printed on some of the fabrics used.
All in all, fashion week is so far extremely successful with these only a being a fraction of the collections shown at this point in New York. Until next time!
